World Economic Forum (located in Switzerland) has published The Global Competitiveness Report 2011–2012. This over 500 pages, 142 countries, report has focused on macroeconomic indicators. It was prepared in cooperation with local organisation and businessman questionnaires.
Following is a list of top first countries valued by Global Competitiveness Index.

The position from previuos year report is given in brackets. From top 20 countries Finland and Belgium went up significantly. Australia, Japan and France lost a lot. But Japan is number one in innovation (table 12.01). Japan is also number one in R&D. Poland lost two position and is valued number 41 with very low positions on quality of roads (134) and burden of government regulation (124).
