Are you in the cloud?

SkyDrive Google Drive Dropbox iCloud
Cloud Drives Platforms
We use computers. Therefore we have computer files. But there is a cloud - computer cloud.  It can do a lot and be used as a virtual storage.
It has also feelings. Look at the message I got few days ago: "Recently your  Dropbox has been feeling kind of lonely :-( ". A human cannot ignore so warm message. Three main criteria to make decision on using the cloud are: safety, capacity and price.

Safety
One of the most important factors is data safety.  We can lose pen drive or can be broken or stolen by competitors. All ideas can go forever to nowhere.  I do not have any data backups.  But how many backups we need and how often?  According to Global Backup Survey in 2009 majority of the respondents do not have any backup and two of every three respondents lost pictures or files. Computer cloud stores our data and does backups. So the key problem is solved.

Capacity
Assuming we like the safety of data in the cloud let's look at its capacity. The capacity is the size of space available for use. To store pictures and documents we need gigabytes sometimes even terabytes.
Apple offers 55 gigabytes. The biggest space drive equal to 15 terabytes offers  Google.  What can we do with this? The average size of HD picture is 2 megabytes. In one gigabyte we can store 500 pictures, in one terabyte 500 000 pictures.

Cost
How much does it costs? There are free plans and paid plans. For capacities up to few gigabytes we do not pay. This is typical size of the pen drive. For free you can have 2 gigabytes from  Dropbox, 5 gigabytes from  Google Drive  and Apple Icloud and 7 gigabytes from  Microsoft SkyDrive. Do you need more? Going beyond the limits requires paying. Most vendors charge yearly.  But  Google provides monthly plans and competitive prices. On average you will pay about 50$ per month for every extra terabyte from  Google. The cheapest are Microsoft SkyDrive and Google Drive and the most expensive are Apple Icloud and Dropbox.

Decision
So now it’s time to make decision. We can go to the cloud and get for free from four vendors the space to store about 10 000 HD pictures. Free disk space for 10 000 HD pictures. Why not?  Why not start today? If we really need more space in the cloud we can buy. The computer cloud is there, waiting for us, it needs only the mouse click. So:

  1. Create an account.
  2. Upload your data
  3. Start using it for your convenience, safety and fun.
See how easy it is: Get 2 GB for free from Dropbox and collect points to get more.
